EUROGEO launches the International Year of Global Understanding Story Maps Competition

We are very excited to inform you that the International Year of Global Understanding Story Maps Competition was launched this morning by the European Association of Geographers (** EUROGEO (http://global-understanding.us13.list-manage.com/track/click?u=3e48da42cf3588d8ff86e6ce4&id=978f7736da&e=d6dfbb8300)), and the ** IGU Commission on Geographical Education (http://global-understanding.us13.list-manage1.com/track/click?u=3e48da42cf3588d8ff86e6ce4&id=939d3411df&e=d6dfbb8300) during the EUROGEO conference in Málaga, Spain, with the generous support of ** ESRI (http://global-understanding.us13.list-manage.com/track/click?u=3e48da42cf3588d8ff86e6ce4&id=bb7547d32a&e=d6dfbb8300).
The International Year of Global Understanding (IYGU) Story Maps Competition is a contest aimed at young people from around the world to help raise awareness of the global implications of local everyday actions. The project is in line with the thematic core aspects outlined below.

About the Competition

There will be two age group categories: (1) high school pupils aged 15-19 and (2) university students aged 19+. We are inviting them to share their perspectives and research on topics associated with global understanding by creating ** story maps (http://global-understanding.us13.list-manage.com/track/click?u=3e48da42cf3588d8ff86e6ce4&id=e6fb254542&e=d6dfbb8300) that examine and address the ways in which we inhabit our increasingly globalized world. The story maps you create should relate to the ** Key Messages (http://global-understanding.us13.list-manage.com/track/click?u=3e48da42cf3588d8ff86e6ce4&id=4fed81d494&e=d6dfbb8300) of the International Year of Global Understanding (** IYGU (http://global-understanding.us13.list-manage1.com/track/click?u=3e48da42cf3588d8ff86e6ce4&id=5b9e720efb&e=d6dfbb8300)) and be developed under one (or more) of their six themes for the year.

2  Moving/staying//belonging
3  Working/housing//urbanizing
4  Communicating/networking//interacting

5  Wasting/recycling//preserving
6  Sports/entertaining//recreating

How to enter

ESRI will send you an email after that with instructions on how to submit your story map as soon as you have it complete and ready to go.
2. Already have an ArcGIS Online Account? Then, you’re all set and ready to begin making your story map!
